Bringing Gospel Joy to Westbury

Market Place, Westbury — Christmas Lights Switch-On

Despite wet skies and blustery winds, the heart of Westbury was very much alive on Saturday afternoon as Renewal Choir made the journey to the Town Centre to be part of the town’s much-loved Christmas Lights Switch-On in Market Place.

Wrapped up against the elements, local residents and families still turned out in great spirit — singing along, dancing where they could, and soaking up the atmosphere as the town gathered to mark the start of the festive season.

Festive favourites with a gospel lift

Our set blended classic Christmas carols and seasonal favourites, generously seasoned with gospel joy and soulful energy — a musical antidote to the cold, wet weather. As voices lifted and hands clapped, the rain and wind faded into the background, replaced by warmth, rhythm, and shared celebration.

Moments like these remind us why community events matter — music bringing people together, even (and especially) when conditions aren’t perfect.

“The rain didn’t dampen the spirit — Westbury sang, danced, and celebrated together, reminding us how powerful community music can be.”

With thanks

A heartfelt thank you to Leander Morales, Production Manager for the event, for taking such good care of us and ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day.

Special appreciation also goes to the effervescent Nigel Ippison-Flemming, who stepped in on keyboards at short notice when Phil was unavailable. Nigel brought warmth, skill, and joyful energy, working seamlessly alongside the band led by Paul and Richard.
