Sharleen Monique has been singing since the age of 4 and is currently working on releasing her debut album. This multi talented creative artist studied media and performing arts to degree level at Bedfordshire University. She is a member of the Kingdom Choir, a collective of singers from South East of England, with whom she has traveled with to Italy, Norway, Spain and the US.
Sharleen is passionate about dancing and over the last 16 years has performed and taught students in the UK & Europe. She uses dance as a tool to instill confidence into her students and she also loves to tell stories through her dance performances. Her choreography is a fusion of African, contemporary, street and traditional praise dance.
One of Sharleen’s proudest achievements was establishing the award-winning group ‘Divine Unity’ for whom she wrote and arranged songs. Divine Unity headlined in Poland and performed in several prestigious UK venues, namely, the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, The Drum, and Symphony Hall.
Since 2011 I have worked alongside Karen Gibson, the award-winning choir conductor of the Gospel Prom 2016 and judge from the BBC2 TV show ‘The Naked choir’. Together, we have traveled extensively throughout Europe (Latvia, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Tenerife, Sweden and Ireland) leading gospel singing workshops with great success.
For the Handel’s Messiah Soulful Celebration this versatile young performer will be performing a dance to open the event and will also sing lead to the event final song and anthem, the Hallelujah Chorus.
